events and departments

is there a way to assign an event to a specific department and that department only? it seems like something that should be obvious, but i can't figure out how to do it, and i asked someone on the livesupport and they said that i would have to assign each task individually to each person in the department. but what if there are 50 people in the department? and what if i want it to be private to that department... it seems like i can't do this. but i think it must be possible. can someone help me with this?

i would love this feature, it would be a very handy alternative to outlook tasks also.

i could also see this being integrated with instaalert making that program worth something.
