HELP Attachments that are .doc or .htm are able to be submitted any longer .txt work - 05-05-2006, 05:33 PM

I submitted a ticket as well. PLEASE RESPOND!!

If a user attaches a file that is .doc or .htm the ticket is generated but the attachment does not make it. On the users end the browser just times out.

This happens on all machines with all browsers and is a new issue. This worked a week ago and we changed nothing.

This has been working for months with no problem. I have not updated because I am afraid of all the new issues.

Obviously I have the attachment flag set to allow up to 3 attachments.

If I submit a .txt file it works fine. Yesterday we had an issue where a user5 attached a file to an email and the queue was hung up. We deleted that message and all was well and now we see this issue.

HELP

I am running

Product: eSupport

Many issued have been fixed with attachments in the latest release, there are still a couple of issues in the 3.00.80 stable build but these are fixed in the CVS build.

If I do not save the attachements to the database but instead set it to save to the files directory then all the issues are resolved.

I am not wild about saving files as blobs anyway. What I don't get is why this worked for the past 9 motnhs without issue..

It is not common for software to repeatedly break as new builds come out as has been true with Kayako Esupport,

The first suppsed stable build after the beta/stable build broke POP mail retrieval. The next build had some other issue with users in AD.

Then now you have a build that breaks the ability for Staff to send attachments. What is the difference if CVS builds have it ciorrected when they are either unavailable or more work than most of us are willing to spend to manage a simple helpdesk.

Where does one draw the line.

If the issue with attachments is in the database why not make it clear users can switch to the files method to eliminate the problem. I had to play with the product for some time to figure that out.
