Question [HOW-TO] Reset Article ID counters - 14-06-2006, 12:08 AM

I have my new K-Base .XML file ready to import, but I need to maintain the Article IDs in the file.
The problem is that every time I import the KBase file, the articles are given new incremental IDs.

How do I reset the K-base (Article and Category) IDs to zero?

Graham

I'll check into this but you may have to actually edit the ID's in the database manually..

Now to do this manually you will need to access PHPMyAdmin once you are in there go to the table > swkbarticledata and you will see the IDs and the content just click on ID and change the number just make sure you dont have two articles with the same id as this may cause problems.

Will the category links still be accurate (or is that only a concern on KB import)?

not exactly sure... All I can say is remember their current IDs and if it doesnt work you can then change them back....

No worries...

I know you have access to PHPMyAdmin in hosted apps... is it installed automatically with non hosted Kayako installs? (how do I access it - I did not set up the software)

does your server have a Control Panel such as cPanel if using cPanel you would access it via either of these two methods.

http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel > PHPMyAdmin >

http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel > MySQL Databases > Scroll to Button and click on PHPMyAdmin

Now if your using Plesk it depends on what version as I haven't used it in years.. So couldnt tell you without seeing it..

If you run on another Control Panel your on your own as I would have no clue.
