Question Howto? Transitioning attachments from database to "files" directory - 18-05-2008, 09:00 PM

I am concerned about the database size, especially now that I am attaching files to a number of Tickets. I am also concerned about the (lack of) speed when getting these files out of the database. So...I would like to transition from using the "files" directory for attachments rather than storing them in the database.

Any thoughts about how to move from our current "database attachments" to "file attachments"?

David

I do not believe you transit the existing files from database to the files directory. However you can change the software settings to now store any files or attachments into the 'files' directory.

I really hope this becomes a feature of V4. A migration tool to move attachments between the two.

Agreed, I think this is a very needed feature! I have added this as a feature request: Transitioning attachments from database to "files" directory

As database size increases, causing difficulties for restoring backups.
