image uploads - 28-08-2007, 01:07 PM

When creating KB articles, we often need to use images, such as screenshots. Currently this is not possible as there is no image upload option. Staff would need to have FTP access, uploa dimages this way, then insert image into the WYSIWYG editor and link to it. Rather a PITA.

This would all be easier if they had used a better WYSIWYG editor such as FCKeditor or something with built in filemanager.

Don't suppose anyone else has created a mod to deal with this have they ?

It isn't possible at the moment but should be included in V4 as they are planning to use TinyMCE with an open source image manager included.

I think it is more likely we are going to look to implement our own centralised image management area - that way media can be reused throughout the whole suite.

For me one downside of a central image manager is that most of the images would be single use, for example when doing KB articles or ticket replies, with screenshot examples.

It'd be nice to be able to upload this sort of one shot images in one go in a way which gives the file a unique name on the server directory and then inserts the image link into the editor.

Russ: V4 has no set release date as Kayako do not want to dissapoint. It will simply be ready when it is ready.

I would advise you implement either yourself (bear in mind TinyMCE is already implemented for the WYSIWYG editor areas). Also to confirm there will be no WYSIWYG editor for tickets content.

Because of all the problems that occurred when V2 had it included with clients not getting ticket notifications.
