Import language failed - 20-03-2008, 04:20 PM

Hi,

I translated the default english language xml file to a new dutch language file.
For some reason if I press on "Import", nothing happens. It shows me directly the "Manage Languages" list without showing me any error.
What's going on?

P.S. my version is 3.20.02 of the SupportSuite.

EDIT:
I found the problem....I have multiple words in my language file containing an "ë".
By this symbol it crashes. What should I do to resolve this?

SECOND EDIT:
I solved the symbol problem with ë so when I open the XML file in my browser it shows me zero errors.
But when I try to Import it by the SupportSuite it shows me again the "Manage Languages" list with no error.
(so it's still not importing my language file.)

LAST EDIT:
Seems like I had more unknown symbols in my language file. He is succesfully added now.
Still weird Kayako won't show me any error when the import failed. Just some small hint why it's failed should be handy.

Try running the language file in IE and check if it throws out any errors also make sure you are importing the same version language file.

Yes I did that but when I saw it was displaying the XML file I thought I had no errors. Untill I scrolled down....
But still Kayako should check if there are errors in the XML file and if there are, display an error message or something.
Maybe a nice point for V.4

Still having problems with importing language files....
I changed some small words in the english XML file.
Now I want to replace the old one (on the server) with the new one (on my pc).

So by Admin CP » Languages » Import/Export I browse to the english XML file and select by Method Of Import "English (U.S.)".
When I press on "Import" it just refreshes the page without changing anything to the the old XML file.
When I open the XML file in my browser, there are none errors.

I'm having the same problem with importing template files.
I press on "Import" and the page just refreshes.

Try running the language pack file in IE and check if it throws out any errors.

I dont think FF reports the XML error. Browser is used specifically to know if your language XML is alright and no errors are reported. If you do not have IE, just attach your language pack and someone will check it out for you

Greetings!

I'm facing the same issue with version 3.30.01. Here's what i know (or think that i know).

Exporting a language results in a xml file having lots of <phrase>STUFF</phrase> entries. Well, that STUFF is a <![CDATA[_realstuff_]]> thing.

I found that importing a well formed xml like the one i exported before never succeeds (nothing happens even if something changed in the xml) while _realstuff_ is in a CDATA section - data in CDATA section is never parsed as far as i know.

So anyway, why not to put _realstuff_ directly into the <phrase> tag? My one-phrase test succeeded, bulk import test will follow soon.

Please let me know if i'm on a very bad clue. I wouldn't like anyone (including me) to render an installation useless this way.
