installing Aspell - 05-09-2007, 08:05 PM

I am running SupportSuite on windows 2000 server with PHP5.
I have installed the win32 version of Aspell but the spell checker still does not work. Is there something els ei need to do?
I have read something about compiling php with aspell but I think this only applies to linux.

ok i just tested the spellchecker from firefox and When the spellchecker window pops up I then get a prompt to open or save spellchecker.php
The content of this file is as follows.

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="spellerStyle.css" />
<script language="javascript" src="wordWindow.js"></script>
<script language="javascript">
var suggs = new Array();
var words = new Array();
var textinputs = new Array();
var error;
textinputs[0] = decodeURIComponent("what%20the%20hel%20is%20thiz") ;
words[0] = [];
suggs[0] = [];
Unhandled Error: C:\Program Files\Aspell\dict/en-only.rws: The file "C:\Program Files\Aspell\data/iso8859-1
.dat" can not be opened for reading.

Doesn't that give you a clue? IUSR_MACHINENAME does not have read access to any folder outside the wwwroot by default.

and our sites do not run under IUSR_MACHINENAME anyway, each site runs as its own user.
But either way, giving "EVERYOJNE" access should work if that was the problem.

On a Windows box you need to install your own ASPELL instance.

Check out the following support article for some help on this:

Hope this helps,
Rob

I already have it installed, as you can see form my original post where I said "I have installed the win32 version of Aspell ".
In fact those are the instructions I followed to install it.
Also this file doesn't exist anymore.

http://networkessence.net/aspell-data.zip

although I did open all those data files and re-save them in plain text format, which I read is all that had been done in that zip file.
