KB Import/Export issues... - 15-06-2007, 03:22 AM

We recently tested an upgrade from 2.3.5 to 3.latest

In the process we found whenever symbols like registered trademark appeared the new version of Kayako would display these as question marks. I guess it comes back to improper encoding on our part.

Anyway, the short version is that my attempt to fix this, I went to export the entire KB to XML, remove the dodgy use of trademark symbols etc....delete the entire KB from Kayako.....then re-import the XML.

After the import process, I found that categories that were assigned to specific template groups, had these settings altered. For example a category that was only in one template group, when imported back then appeared in two template groups. I also found that the default kanding page for the knowledge base (for users) showed that no articles were present in their categories, despite thier being well over 100 articles. Clicking on that category would correctly display all the articles however.
Also all the article view counts were reset, though I suspect this is something by design....but imagine that people may prefer to have this information included.


This is just FYI, I'm not looking for a fix, as we'll just edit the articles manually when we actually perform the upgrade to the live system.

I get that too occassionally. I have yet to pinpoint what causes it. Most common occourance is the £ sign (GB Pound Sign) on invoices on X-Cart.

Try Internet Explorer to see if they show correctly and let us know.
