Key.php - Update URL Field BEFORE you Upload File. - 10-03-2006, 07:55 PM

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure…

We recently changed our registration key.php from an IP address to a domain name and got locked out of our support suite product.

If you change the registered domain for your product key and upload the new key.php file before you change the fields inside of the support suite, you will lock yourself out of the product. You will get thrown into an endless loop where you attempt to log in as either ADMIN or STAFF and while it looks like it is tryng to log you in, you will end up back at the "login" prompts"

The only resolution is then to reload a backup of the old key.php file. If you do not have a backup, then you need to contact KAYAKO support and have them re-create your old one, upload it, make your changes, then get a new key.php file again from kayako and then upload it.

SO….
If you are changing the registered domain name in your key.php file. After you download the new copy. FIRST log into support suite as ADMIN and under
HOME > SETTINGS > GENERAL >
And change the "Product URL" to what your new domain will be in the key.php file.

AFTER you do that, then log out and upload your new key.php file.

Refresh your screen and you should be able to log right in normally.

i dont know if many people would open the file. but when they click in the members area to download it.. i think it would be good to pop up and say "READ ME" and make them click a check box and ok before the download is completed.

You know you could always just open the database and edit the setting as well It is under the settings table.

You can run the following query of MySQL:

update swsettings set data = "http://www.domain.com/" where vkey = "general_producturl";
