Latest CVS stopped working chat - 27-12-2006, 04:15 PM

Hi;

I upgraded to the latest CVS and the chat stopped working.. now the chat does not work for any browser.

I also updated all the templates.

Version: 3.04.51 (CVS) - 27 Dec 2006 01:14 AM

What is the problem? We are going backward here..

Date of stable release? - 27-12-2006, 06:44 PM

Hi;

Can someone from Kayako let us know of the date for stable release where IE 7 and Mac browsers can work with the chat?

Today's CVS broke the chat again and although the fixes were needed now the system is completely out of commission.

I would die to have a stable release that the major premise of the software works..

Hi;

Is there anyway we can get a copy of the support suite that has the chat working for all releases.. I am truly fed up with this broken software..

this software is at best a senior project... I have just about had it.

We are having same issue. Chat windows time out for us. Unfortunately, we were forced into upgrading to latest CVS since we run Modernbill 5 and the Loginshare for V5 only works in the latest CVS.

Will this issue be resolved soon?

Clifton..

This problem has been with us for over 8 or 9 months now. It is amazing how some companies can survive...

In the old economy where word of mouth was a major source of customer acquisition this software would not have had a chance.. now with the internet a company like Kayako can simply ignore its current clients and simply survive because new clients come on board on a daily basis.

With all the investment in time and resources that we have put into this software switching is a major pain..

I had recommended this software to 10 companies when we started & now they are all fed up with it also.. right now we simply recommend against it. We are in a research park of all technology companies that would benefit from this software or something like it..

Amazing.. simply amazing

Well i can honestly say that i am not really "unhappy" with Kayako support suite per se`. For instance im FAR more unhappy with modernbill after paying $800 for them to upgrade our V4 to V5, and three weeks later it still doesnt work, but thats another post

I was going to put in a ticket for this, but knowing what i know, they wont "support" a CVS build! lol....

Im stuck till they release a stable version base don latest CVS i guess. Im holding on Kayako, please answer the call and get us a working product!

I mean, modernbill 5 has been out for a year, you dont have the integraiton working yet?

Is it working?

I checked the CVS version .. the last work that shows up in the log files is on 29th CVS version.. the new one dated 2nd does not have any log entries.

If it works please let me know since I am tired of updating CVS and all the applications only to find out that it is not working.

Of course Kayako never tells anyone anything .. one expects a little note to a lot of annoyed clinets telling them what is going on.. but that is too much to expect ..

right but im running the CVS from like the 19th or so, its same verison number but definately an earlier release, im fixing to do the update now.

Ok, here is the result:

SupportSuite CVS Build V. 3.04.51 (Build January 2nd)
Liveresponse 3.1.0.8 BETA

Order of events

1. Live Chat Link Clicked from Website: Success
2. Client Redirect to /visitor/index.php: Success
3. Client enters Name: Success
4. Client Enters E-Mail: Success
5. Client Browser "Please wait, an operator will be with you shortly.": Success
6. Chat Notification Alert to Admin: Success

At this point according to my chat window i am connected and can see the users details (name, Email Address). Note that Clients Browser still displays "Please wait, an operator will be with you shortly."

7. Admin sends message via chat window to Client: Fail

Admin sends message, success for admin, but due to Clients browser still being in "Please wait, an operator will be with you shortly." Mode, the Client never sees the admins response.

After 1.5 Minutes

8. Admin Chat window Displays error saying that the client has not repsonded and is timed out.

Interesting Notes:

Admin chat pane will say "$client_name is typing a message" if the client has their mouse in the text input field. However, if client hits enter to send the message they are presented with the "Your message could not be delivered, please wait for a representative" blah blah blah...

Can we get this fixed Kayako???


Im going to try overwriting the /visitor directory of the CVS build with the /visitor directory of the stable and see if it works. not great i know but a bandaid until there is a fix.

Clifton..

What you are reporting I reported 8 months ago.. with IE 7 beta. Since then you can search the many posts on this forum about this issue.

I just upgraded to the latest CVS

& the same problem is still here.

What a joke.. one has to be out of his mind to use this software as an infrastructure product for a company. We have been offline for almost a month now because of this problem.

Is this issue still just on Windows installations or has it migrated to Linux ones as well? Last I read the problem didn't appear on Linux implementations.

This is a bug in their implementation that according to them has always existed but now it is showing itself up with IE 7.

But the problem is the bug also affects Macintosh chat on all browsers.

The bug is in Windows installation based on all my research so far.

If you have chat interactions with people on Macintosh the chat will not work. Also in about 3 months when everyone upgrades to IE 7 the chat will stop working on Windows as well.

Of course after we updated to CVS 51 the chat stopped working for all browsers on all platforms..
