A new STABLE version incoming ? - 27-09-2006, 09:35 PM

Hello dears:

Just want to know if there is some new STABLE version incoming soon ?

I'm planning the best moment to renew support to be able to upgrade our desk, I want to decide if we will upgrade right now to the current latest stable(3.00.90), or if is best to wait some weeks or 1 month and upgrade directly to a more recent new version wich is probably incoming soon.

we have the 3.00.32 right now but support have expired.

Some advises ?

It is really hit or miss with Kayako. When they say ‘soon’ that has proven to be up to a year in waiting, and then things have never really been stable with the v3.x tree.

Best to just wait and see. Let the new version come out, then look at all the bug reports, and there have proven to be MANY. Then see what ones might affect you and decide if the update is worth it or not. I renewed my support about 8 months ago (2 months lapsed now) and was never able to update my v2 install to v3 because of bugs and design flaws in the v3 system. The most recent v3.0.90 has many bugs, and is lacking essential functionality that existed in v2.

Thank you for advise!

But I'm currently on the 3.x tree.

To 3.x current users: Do you really recommend to upgrade from 3.00.32 to 3.00.90 ? (I'm now searching a clear change log on the forum, but tell me your feelings.)

Can't help you as I started on 3.00.90 (other than our 2.2 system that we've been using for 2 years). I can say that the product has gotten somewhat better since then, as I've kept upgrading to the newest CVS builds and even contributed some code to 3.02.00. That said, I've had to write a couple thousand lines of PHP myself to make v3 capable of taking over our ticket system duties, and as a result of that work, we're finally going live with it for customers on Saturday.
