Norwegian language pack - Any Norwegians around? - 06-10-2005, 05:46 PM

Hi
I just wanted to check if there are any Norwegians around here that run supportsuite V3. And if anybody of you have started to translate the Norwegian Language pack?

Can we expect an Norwegian translation here shortly?

Thanks
Best regards

Anyone sharing a norwegian translation? I don't fancy paying another $315 to obtain from these guys... on the other hand I don't fancy spending the next few hours of my life doing this myself... however if I do I will make it public domain... However some kind soul out there must have done all the hard work already??!

Takk på forhand.

If you're serious with your business, then paying for translation shouldn't be an issue. Norwegian translations goes for less than the price listed in this thread (also, remember to keep out sales tax, as that counts for 1/5 of the total price. However, this will also be refunded to your company).

Now, you should know that the market for Norwegian translations is very limited. As with all types of products and services, something that can be resold many times will have a lower price, but obviously this is not the case here. Now, divide the price on the number of hours spent making the translation, and take the previous information into consideration, and you'll find that nobody - at least not in Norway - can sell Kayako translations and make a lot of money on it. I know, because we were probably the first ones to make such a translation, and I can assure you, it's not a big part of our revenue.

To all others in this thread: When replying, take into consideration that Norway is a high-cost market. Heck, a regular McDonald's clerk earns no less than $16-17 an hour, possibly more. The cost for the employer is the hourly wage multiplied with apprx. 1.4 (vacation costs, employment taxes and diverse costs related to having staff). Hence, prices are also in general very much higher than in other countries (the all so famous McDonald's index again shows will show that a Big Mac meal costs about $10,50 with recent exchange rates). So the perspectives should be adjusted accordingly.

Don't get me wrong. It just seemed a little too high and I didn't know Norway is a high cost market.

And I really appreciate the effort you have put into it, especially being the only ones to do so. All the best with your business

Anyone know where I can get a Norwegian translation for less than this?

Am I right in understanding that eSupport is working on their own translations which will be included free some time in the future??

TIA

Hmm, I don't they are working on translations though they might actually release translations in future if they have heavy demand.

Well... I found a 'free' norwegian translation on the shared area... but it seems eSupport import function doesn't work... so even if I did decide to spend 300$ on a translation it seems it would be useless to me as the import function is not operational... I mailed support - who told me to remove all international charcters from the xml file - which didn't work... now they don't seem to have a clue - in fact they don't even seem that interested... as a new customer I'm more than a little disappointed in this product so far...

Cool Norwegian Translation.... - 14-01-2007, 09:36 PM

Hi,

For anyone looking for a Norwegian Translation of eSupport Client front-end... I have commissioned my own translation... which you can view here:

http://www.shed49.com/support/

If anyone here would like this, I will be happy to supply it for the cost of a decent bottle of whisky... say $29 - as appposed to the $300 others may be trying to flog this for...

I would have liked to have distributed this for free, however I need to recoup some of the costs of commissioning my own translation!!

Just PM me if your interested

Cheers
Terry
