One-click close button for tickets - 30-10-2006, 10:29 AM

We have just moved up from v2 (currently 3.0.90 but upgrading to latest build very soon) which had a one-click close button on the ticket screen. It sorely missed a one-click delete button but in v3 there is not even a close button any more? Is there a way to have a one-click close button on the individual ticket detail screen?

Hello,

You can close the ticket from the ticket details screen, where you see the status of the ticket lets say open, click on the word open and the will change to a dropdown box select close and then hit submit.

Sorry I didn't make it clear but I was talking about the ticket details screen (not the client area).

I was also talking about *one-click* like in v2.

the only current way is:
~click~ open status
~click~ to select drop down
~click~ to select close
~click~ submit

when you do this many, many times a day you notice the difference

SupportSuite 3 supports multiple "closed" states, so a button for "Close" would be meaningless as it would have no way to know which "closed" state to use.

Yes there is more customisation for the states but the majority of people just use the standard closed state. ie the same way it knows that you want it closed when you select close from the drop down...

4 clicks to achieve a common task is poor programming.

~click~ open status
~click~ to select drop down
~click~ to select close
~click~ submit

If you are quick and regularly use the system, the time difference is negligible

I disagree. Doesn't change the fact its inconvenient.

Can this kind of thing be done through templates or something?

There's no template for that part of the application. It could be added by changing the PHP source files but because the status list is built dynamically from the database it would either

a) be relatively difficult to program accounting for the facts that the status id of the "closed" status could potentially change, or even worse, an additional "closed" status could be added, or

b) be written statically, which is relatively trivial, but any changes to Statuses could break it

I thought this might be the case - the other problem is any updates will mean the code needs to be re-inserted. Still worth the effort though I think.
