Proactive Chat - Request Chat not working? - 29-09-2005, 01:40 PM

Running latest SupportSuite 3.00.12 and LiveResponse app on a trial installation ...

The 'Request Chat' feature doesn't do anything on the visitors' side ie. no popups of any sort offering a chat etc even with ALL popup software turned OFF.

However the 'forced chat' thing works ..but that's just not good enough because you don't wanna force chats on visitors (existing customers yes, but not people browsing the site).

Neither request chat or force works with simple popup blockers ... what is going on? Is this feature finished or still in development? Thanks in advance

Hi,

This works fine in FireFox and Opera, it is a problem with the code on IE and should be fixed in the next build.

I find that I can almost never get the Forced Chat to work. On the latest stable build 32 its not working either.

Isn't there a way to get around the popup blockers on the clients end? I have no problems with forcing chat on visitors, but seems like we can never make it happen.

Hi,
Unfortunately its very difficult to work around popup blockers, Things are evolving continuously and even the last update of Firefox has more enhancements to block popups.

We are however looking to grab more attention to the Proactive Chat page by scrolling it around the page.

Varun,

If we could swap out the dhtml a little easier, that would work for me. The Live person system as well as the phplive systems will allow you to use an image as the popup. I particularly need to move it down a bit to get around some flash unless you know of a way to force it over the top of the flash.

Hi Shannon,
I remember someone posting a workaround regarding flash on forums earlier, It had to do with changing the way the flash object is embedded in HTML.

Cant seem to find it now, can you try searching and see if you have better luck?
