Arrow Problem with Breaklines interpreter - 30-07-2007, 05:40 PM

Okay, here is a common scenario:

I get breaklines like this:
------Original Message------

and also like this:
-----Original Message-----

See the difference? One has 5 dashes on each side and the other has 6. Okay, no problem right? Just put both of them into Kayako and it should work right? No! Kayako processes the first breakline as if it was the 2nd one, i.e, it "sees" the one with 5 dashes first, and uses that to strip. This means that every post that comes in with 6 gets an extra "-" left behind.

Come on guys-- if you aren't going to give us full RegExp expression functionality in the breaklines parser, then at least make it an "Exact" match so this kind of thing doesnt happen...But MAN oh MAN do we really need better breakline parser... with Regexp support

(before you ask yes i have already posted it to the feature requests)

This is a small bug really. I suggest you submit it at http://bugs.kayako.com

Good. http://bugs.kayako.com/index.php?cmd=view&id=218 is the link to the bug report to keep it tied together for other users who come across this thread.

Jamie should be able to chase this up when he gets back from his vacation (today I think).

just doing some housekeeping- I notice this got lost in the shuffle. This issue still affects me, and I would like an update on its status.

Can't you just add the 6-dash breakline first in Kayako's list, followed by the 5-dash? That way it wouldn't be able to check for the 5-dash breakline without first detecting the 6-dash one and removing it.

no, that doesn't work. I tried it. Also, there is no way to re-order the rules as far as I can tell.
