Problem with Satellite helpdesks and iFrames

Hi

I have the 3.0.26 build, and want to use it to run a number of satellite helpdesks.

I have set up the template groups, and I have integrated them with the CMS systems that run my sites by using a simple iFrame and using the groupname at the end of the URL.

This works absolutely fine in Firefox - but in IE it only works fine for getting to the first page of the supportdesk. Any click in the support area beyond that reverts to default template.

Any ideas on how to fix this please?

ok, here's an update on this one.

I opened a ticket to get help on this at the same time i submitted the forum post. I waited some time and then had a reply from Varun in which he only went as far as the first page, and then emailed me screenshots of this to prove it worked.
I then pointed out that I had explained that the first page worked, but in IE no pages beyond that kept the groupname, and simply reverted to the default.

I wait a long while again, and then i hear from Hiren, who provides screen shots of pages beyond the first page working fine - but the screen shots show that the testing is being done with a firefox browser!!!

I'm happy to wait patiently for replies because I know everyone at Kayako is busy. But it really really annoys me when no-one actually reads the submitted ticket before responding.

Has anyone else had an issue with satellite desks not retaining 'groupname' settings when used in iFrames in IE browsers?
Can anyone offer any advice please?

The group name does not stay as far as I have seen, but the templates stay until you choose a different template group. I would assume its done through cookies, which can be a problem if your IE is set to block them. Try cleaning out your cache for old cookies and make sure cookies are allowed and try again.

ah, yes ... I suppose using iFrames could fall foul of blocking 3rd party cookies.

is there a workaround for this? i think blocking 3rd party cookies is a standard setting in IE. if it's not, it's a common one.

The drupal content management system's community has come up with this suggestion to get round the problem of losing sessions in iFrames in IE:
