Problems with mail parser - 20-02-2008, 04:01 AM

Hi all,

I have read through just about every thread on this subject before posting so you can imagine how I feel now!

I have a new installation:

Apache 2.2.6
Perl 5.2.5
SupportSuite 3.11.01
Zend 3.3.0

All setup has gone well and I have no errors anywhere at all.

I have one POP3 mailbox defined and have configured the mail parser with the appropriate pop3 settings. I have smtp outbound enabled.

If i create a new ticket or make a post, then the user receives a message. The mailserver logs show SupportSuite logging in and sending the mail.

If I run the wget for ~cron/index.php?_t=parser or just ~cron/index.php all appears fine but nothing happens in terms of fetching my mail and the parser log remains empty.

The mailserver does not appear to receive any attempt at a login, and I dont seem to get any errors locally.

The following is the output from the command when executed as above:
wget http://support.domain.com/cron/index.php?_t=parser
--03:29:28-- http://support.domain.com/cron/index.php?_t=parser
=> `index.php?_t=parser.5'
Resolving support.domain.com... 10.70.1.120
Connecting to support.domain.com[10.70.1.120]:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 208 [text/html]

100%[================================================== =====================>] 208 --.--K/s

03:29:28 (1.98 MB/s) - `index.php?_t=parser.5' saved [208/208]
As always, very grateful for any steer you may be able to provide.

Many thanks,
Mark.

Have you set the cron using SSH or using a control panel?

I thought I'd put a quick conclusion post here in case someone else runs into the same problem.

Turns out that what I should have done was launch the URL in a browser, as this immediately told me that IMAP support was not properly compiled into PHP, in exactly those words!

My PHP installation had previously shown that IMAP support was compiled in, but I applied a patch and must have run ./configure without the required --with-imap= and --with-imap-ssl= set.

Once I did that, all was ok and c-client was compiled in ok.

All the best,
Mark.

Good to know the issue is resolved. Guess I missed out on that
