Registering and Logging in to Support Suite fails

When I register as a user in the support center, the user doesn't show up in the staff section. I can manually add a user in the Staff section but when I try and login with that user in the client area it will just return me back to the login screen without any errors.

I'm forcing manual registration

I can login fine to the admin and staff sections.

Any ideas?
