Unhappy Rendering issues on OS X - 27-10-2006, 08:48 PM

Hi,

Anyone else having problems finding a browser that works with the Staff and Admin backend?

I am using Camino and Safari, and both have the same problem, which is that the drop down menus dont disappear when you move away from them, and they end up displaying on top of each other and eventually it gets to a point where the screen is covered in bits of menu.

The only option is to move to a new section whcih causes a screen refresh.

Any fixes for this ?

Olly

I don't make regular use of Camino or Safari, but can confirm this behavior as well.

Kayako has confirmed this issue and they are working on some alternative menu systems now. I just wanted everyone to know

Any updates on this? This is still an issue in Safari (even the recent v3.0 Beta).

There are also issues with the WYSIWYG - please fix this.

With regards to the WYSIWYG editor, I think you just either have to use Internet Explorer or FireFox or just use standard editing. It is a 3rd party editor and they don't support anything but these browsers.

Personally I hadn't used SupportSuite in Safari up until now, I've been using Firefox.

The latest version of COOLjsMenu is compatible with Safari. I don't see why SupportSuite can't be using the latest version. 8 months since the original post & yet it hasn't been resolved?

There's quite possibly no chance of that as htmlArea has been discontinued.

A better solution would be for SupportSuite to be bundled with another WYSIWYG editor (either free or commercially licensed). Directory of WYSIWYG editors: http://www.htmlarea.com/

I have checked and the majority only support FireFox / Internet Explorer.

I am using Dev Edit (http://www.interspire.com/devedit/) in a piece of software I am building and I must say, its amazing!

Worked with DevEdit here before too - agree completely on what an excellent piece of work it is and would be great to have included in SupportSuite.

Just submitted it to feature requests so it gets noticed. They guys down at Interspire are AMAZING too. They go out of their way just to make sure the customer is happy.

Still an issue - 19-06-2007, 02:18 PM

For me the problem with the non-disapearing menu-items is on all WebBrowsers under MacOS X.

Tested the behaviour under W2K with FF 2.0.0.4, IE 6.0 and the Kayako-own LiveSupport with the result that on all Browsers the menu-items dissapear after klicking somewhere else on the site.

On the contrary unter Max OS X (10.4.9) under Safari as well as under FF (2.0.0.4) the menu-items do NOT dissapear.

Does that mean, changing to FF does not solve the problem under Mac OS or is it some strange config-entry I have not spotted yet?

Any help on this would be appreciated

Thanks

Andreas

Scratch that, you're right. Does not work under Firefox either.

Just for completenes:

Using Safari 3Beta under W2K (yes it works ;-) the menu works as expected. Klick somewhere on the site and the menu-items disappear........

So it seems more like a OS-related than a browser-related issue.

But with a recent version of Coolmenupro the issue should be resolved.
