RSS feed authentication - 08-02-2006, 05:44 PM

Hi,

I'm trying to utilize the RSS feed for the tickets view. When I click on the link for the feed, I get a Windows authentication prompt to log in. When I enter my staff information, it just bounces back. What is going on?

I'm running SupportSuite on an IIS6 server. Thanks.

- Andre

It's a Debian Install - Everything pretty much out of the box.

There is admin details on my last support ticket if anyone from Kayako fancies having a look.

windows authentication - 03-06-2006, 05:00 PM

if you are getting windows authentication then its not the kayako staff information, its windows. We have security set up on our IIS6 win2k3 local intranet to open the webpage based on their login credentials, accessing a page without going through the normal route can sometimes have these prompts come up. Try the login as YourDomainHere\Usernamehere and then password as your windows password.

Has anyone figure out a way to get this working?

I've tried my domain account, my esupport account, nothing authenticates.

Features I need asap:
1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.
Cheers!

Hi,

We use HTTP Authentication hooks for Tickets RSS feed. This does not work using Microsoft's IIS server and the CGI version of PHP due to a limitation of IIS.

Thanks.

If this RSS syndication can't be made to work with IIS, can the setting to "Enable RSS Syndication for Ticket Views?" be made to remove the "Tickets > View Options > RSS Feed" item from the Tickets > View Options menu?

It's confusing for the staff and they continue to ask if it can be turned on.

Thank you,

Rich

What RSS reader are you using? Some RSS readers require you to send auth with the URL, (IE http://usernameassword@www.yoursupportsuiteurl.com/rss/_tickets&department=11") . Also, your RSS reader may be choking on the special characters, in which case you'll need to use the hex values for :, /, and @.

Just got a chance to test WHB-Jef's suggestion and it worked! Thank you!

As you noted, it was looking for accountassword in the url string. (windows not esupport login for anyone interested)

Rich

hmmmm...

I've tried to repeat this, and so far it's not working.

I'll keep plugging away at it and try to figure it out...
