RSS View - 20-07-2006, 07:54 PM

How do you get the RSS View to work.

I am prompted for username and password however I dont know what password it asks for. Thoughts?

Since im not quite sure what you mean, make sure that you have an RSS reader.

then, you need to use the staff user or admin user login that you login in as normally.

I have been using this with mixed success withe firefox's Live Bookmarks for the reader. (sometimes i get the error Live Bookmark Failed to Load)

Anyone know of a web-based reader that can handle http authentication?

I actually found a few issues.

1. Not all RSS reader support HTTP or HTTPS Authentication. Which is understandable because RSS does not support any form of authentication natively.

2. If you put a password on a template group then it will break the RSS capability. When you specify a pass on template group you first have to supply that because for some reason it exists on the /rss folder. Then you have to specify your username and password for the feed. This wont be supported by any RSS reader.

I am not sure why the template group password is required but the only thing I can think of is that there is a generic RSS directory used in both support center and staff.
