I have a call (open status) with the subject "MCR 835 software". When I search for 835 or *835* or any way I can think of I can't get any search field to find the call. The only search I can get to work is the ticket number search. Why doesn't search work?

Search seems to have some strangeness about it unfortunately.

Some things it finds just fine, others not so much.

e.g. I put xyzzy in 3 tickets to test & I can find them with search.

If I edit ticket subject and place unique text in the subject ("Microsloth" for example) It finds all kinds of hits, unfortunately, there are only 3 tickets in my system with this text. It looks like when it finds "no" hits at all, it seems to return everything to you.

Let's hope it's much tighter in the next release...

Else my users will be stringing me up!

Features I need asap:
1) Ticket search in the client portal!
2) Column display in client portal showing clients email address or name
3) Downloads by client
(i.e. - each client has their own download area and can't see/touch downloads for any other client.) This would be on top of a "public" download area.
4) Integrated KB image uploads
The ability for staff to upload images with a KB articles.
Cheers!

Don't quote me on this but I think it is because it is 3 characters. I had a similar problem with X-Cart and there is something you have to do to the database to fix it so 3 letter words can be searched.

I'll see if I can get a developer to clarify this.

Ok, just heard back from Varun. Please go into the Admin area then Settings then Tickets. Inside, please tell us what "Minimum Word Length" is set to. It should be 3.

Try setting it to 3 and see if that works.
