Sending users password in reply email - 23-03-2006, 08:08 PM

Hello,

I've been editing the email that gets sent to users when a member of staff replies to a ticket.

Basically I have made it so that when a member of staff replies instead of the email containing the reply in it & some details about the ticket I have made it so that it contains a link to the ticket and some instructions (I thought what's the point in it if most tickets are going to have 2 posts... the beginning post and a staff reply - the rest from there would be handled by email the way it is coded by default, so I changed that...)

Anyway, I want it to send them the password in the email they recieve when staff replies to the ticket incase they have deleted their first email or something.

I have tried using the code that's used in the first email the user gets sent when they make the ticket & I have also tried to use the coding from the lost password email but both of them don't work.

So, basically, all I'm wanting to do is put the users password into email_staffreply.

Hope that all makes sense

Craig.

This is fixed in the current CVS build, it was done on 20 March, you can see from the http://builds.kayako.net/ site. I would wait until there is stable release, but you can try the .80 unstable if you feel adventerous.

Ah, cool, so I can send users their username and password in the reply notification email when the next version is released?

Yup, it's already in the builds, the next stable build should have the fix.

Forgoten Password Link (Simple) - 24-01-2007, 02:36 PM

Did this happen at all?

I am very concerned about this subject, and I'll tell you why.
I have just had a client who signed up for a hosting package which she bought from us on eBay a few months ago.

On our site there are loads of ways to contact our support staff. In fact we have always encouraged them to use the Kayako Support Suite.

This client tells me that she/he has been trying for a while (3 weeks to be exact) to log into the support area to let us know that she/he whas having problem with their domain.

The reason why we are concerned is clearly this client had "Forgotten" the login to then create a ticket.

To cut a long story short. All this could have been avoided with a simple "Forgot Password" link.

I don't know many online applications that have not implemented this as part of the basics of an online application.

"Has this been done yet?" I ask....
