We also like the clean URL approach being suggested.

We think, however, that a more pressing issue is the use of clear text passwords both in the Kayako MySQL database and in cookies that are set when a user (staff, admin, or end user) selects the 'Remember Me' option at login -- we consider this a security issue that should be addressed before addition of new features being requested by users. Clean URLs is second on our list of desired mods to the distribution.

We registered a critical Feature Request (hard to call it a bug since it was a design consideration) with Kayako:

http://bugs.kayako.net/index.php?do=details&id=1057

We heard from Varun that a fix was not to be expected before version 3.00.54.

Cheers,

Tom

I, too, really want to see some form of Search-Engine-Optimized URLs. It's actually not so much that I need them for the search engines; it's that when I want to send a customer an email with a link to a knowledgebase entry for a particular problem, the URL is highly-likely to be line-wrapped. (Plus, it's ugly, and embarassing to send.)

At the moment, when I want to send a URL in email, I go to either www.tinyurl.com or www.makeashorterlink.com and paste in the Kayako URL, get back a short URL, and put that in the email. But it's pretty damn embarassing to have to send a link to an "external" website to make up for the shorcomings with Kayako.

I don't support anything that makes the product not cross-platform compliant. Making use of Apache only modules or Windows only this and thats would hose a lot of folks. If it can be done independantly within the product, then fine.

I have to agree with Chirpy. There should be URL's that are short and can be pointed directly to a knowledgebase article from an email message.

The other bonus is SEO of the knowledgebase articles.

Ha, I made the mistake of assuming the search engine friendly archive interface was already available in v3, based on this post:

Version 3 Information

I've been banging my head trying to get information out of Kayako support about this, see this thread:

http://forums.kayako.com/showthread.php?t=6492

Sounds like the bottom line is it isn't really there. Kayako ought not to advertise a feature that doesn't exist.

Guess I better request a refund.
