Unhappy SMS alerts - 03-11-2005, 04:48 PM

Hi,

I've just upgraded from 3.0.0.4 to 3.0.0.13 and thought I'd have another go at getting SMS alerts working. So far I've had no luck whatsoever. I've got the gateway enabled in my cpu and server settings and I have entered my members.kayako.net log in details. I have 100 sms credits shown in my account and I have created a public rule to send an sms for all new tickets.

Now when I send a new ticket I get no SMS and my credits aren't reduced. I can't see a way to test these settings and I'm at a complete loss as to what to try next. Any suggestion would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Adam

edit: forgot to say I have also configured a mobile number for my admin user and that I get no failure reports

Yes, running 3.00.13 and SMS alert is working fine.

1. I hope you have an SMS alert rule created.

2. do not place ANY international prefix to your mobile number, no "+" and also no "00" or whatever. If you have an US Number it should therefore start with 1...... if you have a german number it will start with 49 etc.

thanks eager i omitted the 0 from my number as is normally the case when you prefix a country code and this appears to be the problem. I'm in the uk and now have my number as 44077XXXXXXXX and the credits now disappear from my account. However they don't appear on my phone The SMS gateway history shows the message as "success" but so far I've been waiting nearly 90 minutes with no text. It's not much of an alerting system if you don't get the alerts straight away. I think I may need to raise a ticket for this. Would love to hear if anyone in the UK has got it working reliably and if so on which network

Thanks

Adam

hmmm actually I just tried it again without the 0 (4477XXXXXXXX) and that has shown up as success as well but so far no message. I'm very confused by all this, maybe the gateway was down earlier when I tried

Hi Varun,

The SMS seems to be working properly this morning. I have sent 2 tests and they both have come very quickyly. Out of the 3 test messages I sent last night 2 came after 4 hours (far too long) and 1 is yet to arrive nearly 13 hours later. I'm hoping it was a temporary glitch that wont happen again!

For those in the uk wondering about the number format the correct way is to add 44 and drop the leading 0 for example 077XXXXXXXX should be entered as 4477XXXXXXXX hope this helps someone out!

I'll let you know if the messages take a long time again

Adam

this applies to all countries ofcourse. You need to enter the mobil number the "international" way.

country code without the intl. prefix + area code without the leading zero + phone number
