(split) Version numbering discussion (old) - 29-03-2007, 10:31 PM

Any idea about v4, when is this coming? I have requested this feature also before.

Version 4 shouldn't be an awful long time away, but Version 3.5 is due out before it, which will be another milestone.

I am guessing perhaps near the end of 2008? and 3.5 near the end of 2007 since we are only at 3.1.

I cannot give any definite estimates, but I can say that you do not necessarily have to wait for 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 until you get the 3.5 (and so on). The version number changes will simply mark the significance of each update.

Will we see any of the missing v2 features in v3.5 or v4? Why is 3.5 a milestone?

Actually, if you look at the version numbers, we are at 3.10 (three point ten) rather than 3.1, so we are already past 3.5. Or would that be 3.50 (three point fifty)?

I know, Kayako refers to the ten as being one.... I just find it humorous...

This inconsistency is probably only down to shorter-hand communication on the forum

Obviously kayako does not know how to properly version their releases if what you say is true.

When you get to 3.9, the next version would be 4.00 not 3.10. As abfm mentioned above 3.1 is smaller than 3.5, the version number should be moving upwards.

Didn't they number the version as 3.00.90 and not 3.9?

That is correct, we have:

3.00.90 - 24 Jul 2006 01:12 AM
3.02.00 - 11 Sep 2006 10:20 PM
3.04.00 - 06 Oct 2006 01:12 AM
3.04.51 - 09 Jan 2007 01:14 AM
3.10.00 - 28 Feb 2007 09:28 PM

And so on

Right, numbering the version may be wierd but it is certainly not insane. It does move ahead.
