Conduct a quick poll - 16-01-2007, 11:23 PM

I do completely agree with Skaye. Bugs are part of any software which needs to be fixed later.

However show stopper bugs needs to be addressed quickly.

Why can't Kayako conduct a quick poll on this?

Im sat patiently waiting with a fresh licence for MB5 and a fresh Licence for Kayako Support Suite...

... When is it going to be safe to integrate these two pieces of software for a production environment.

Can someone confirm there isnt a STABLE integration at this point, as thats what I gather from reading?

The integration with MB 5.1.4 and Kayako 3.10.00 has been stable for us, but not feature complete. Varun says that will be fixed in the upcoming release that I believe will be marked as stable.

Apart from ability to create a new ticket in MB everything else (replying, ticket lists, management etc.) should work fine in MBv5.

The independent LoginShare plugin is also in the CVS and the new ticket functionality should be in pretty soon making the integration feature complete.

How do you see new ticket functionality making it complete? That isn't complete, that is only one more missing piece.

The whole support tab in ModernBill is still ModernBill's helpdesk, not Kayako's FAQ's as it should be.

Varun, I've worked with Kayako and talked with you multiple times over the last three years but I am actually one of those clients who is finally beginning to lose faith.

I was told 10+ months ago that when ModernBill 5 went final that Kayako would get the integration done.

This is 10+ months later, ModernBill 5 has been final for a while, and the integration isn't done and now we are being told all that is left is "New Tickets" where there is a whole support tab that displays internal Modernbill information, not Kayako information.

I'm fairly disappointed.

Hi Larry,
Sadly that part is beyond our control. I have emailed Michael twice regarding this but they still do not have support inbuilt for us to replace the FAQ or news section.

As soon as they implement this basic functionality thats left we will start working on moving over the integration to cover the FAQ and other sections.

*Bump*

Any updates? On next build.

We were planning to update to the current build but want to wait if there is another release around the corner.

This is not Open Source software. What are you doing with all of these beta, cvs and unstable builds anyway? The whole things smells, looks and feels like an open source community project. I want stable or beta. Release more stable builds if you have to, due to so many bugs, but gosh don't put out a bunch of odd ball releases.

Here are some issues:

1) The STABLE build is not so stable. The last stable release had many bugs. When you say STABLE it sounds like to me that you are working from the perspective that it's not going to "blow up" rather than it be bug free. That's not a healthy perspective for a software development company.

2) You shouldn't recommend that people upgrade to the CVS or UNSTABLE versions, as you recently did in your response to my Bug report by email (Mahesh). I upgraded to the latest CVS one today and now the most of the blue menu bars don't "open" so I can't do many things like merge a ticket.

3) Now that I am in this position, I can't seem to locate any documentation regarding uninstalling that build and going back to a different one. Especially since I have no idea what CVS, STABLE or UNSTABLE version I was on previously.

4) You have so many areas on your web site it's so hard to know what's happening anyway. Forums, News, KBs, Members, Bugs, and of course the main site.

5) The install and upgrade routine is ancient. Where's the automated installer and upgrade app? Why in the world do I have to edit the headers and footers on all of these email templates? Shouldn't they be in one file?

This is why people are upset when they have to upgrade.

We are being heard (maybe), not listened to (definitely).

"Bug free" software is a myth.

Why is this a bad suggestion? You had a bug, they said it was fixed in a CVS, its then your decision whether you want to upgrade.

You should have made a backup before your upgrade, thats a pretty standard thing to do.

Bugs - formal bug reporting
Forum - for user discussion, unformal bug reporting
KBs - formal documentation for popular issues
News- obvious
Members - download information, release updates, etc.

Seems ok to me.

Well, Varun's post on 1-14-07 said the they would be upgrading the Kaykao support site on the new build but when you goto the site it still shows v3.00.98, which isn't the latest by the way.

I'm really hoping Kayako hasn't dropped the ball on this. I'm really eger to get the newest stable build as i'm looking at the MBv5 Loginshare.

Could you update us Varun? I'm intersted to know how the new build and release dates. I've been watching the Kayako blog but its not very active anymore.

I see a new build released this morning, marked v. 3.10.00 as CVS.
This supercedes previous unstable 3.10.00
Can anyone advise me whether I ought to install this latest release on my client's site ?
Or is it liable to cause problems ? What does the CVS mean anyway ?
Presently running the last stable release.
Thanks.
