Synchroniz and task in a mess !!!!! - 13-11-2008, 06:13 AM

I am not sure if kayako guys have tested this or not

If a task in outlook is long let's say 30 lines
when you synchronize it 20 lines disappear.
Today I must have lost many tasks and I do not know

I hate you kayako!
low quality software full of bugs!
I do not think you test it enough . now what am I going to do with all those lost information?
The more I use this software I get more disappointed!
Another useless feature in Kayako TASKS ( you have to be always careful not to type more than 4 or 5 line into it because if you are using Synchronize plugin you will loose your data)
Who is going to pay me for the 3 years of work and loss ? I always used task to put my clients information and work for them. Now I have to search around for backups!
If I complain I receive a pm asking me to behave myself. I wish your office was in my neighborhood I would come to your office and give you a hard time ( all of you)

Hi jnet,

We have not had this bug reported before, you are the first one to do so. Has this occurred only in a recent build? Are you running the latest version of SyncWorks as well as SupportSuite?

I completely disagree with this; we're open about the number of bugs in our software, but we have no more than 'normal'. In fact, I believe we have considerably less than other web applications of our size.

We do test thoroughly. Every build receives a complete test drill, and where we have fixed specific bugs we test those individually too (you can see this in our tracker). We work very hard on the quality assurance of our releases. Some things are bound to slip by (possibly like this case), and for that we are sorry - but we and no other software development company is perfect. All we can do is ensure a timely fix.

This should not be the case; if it is happening consistently for you, it may be a bug.

Not at all, you're welcome to complain and provide constructive criticism, as long as it is civilised and constructive.

Thanks,

Thanks for the answer
I lost a lot of data and I do not know what I have lost. I have backups but the last backup I had was about 6 months ago

OK

My Synchronize is 3.2.4.23 stable
My Outlook is 2007 version
My support suite is 3.30.02 Stable

I had not test it with previous version Just yesterday I discovered it.

Please make a task and write some thing in it more than 10 or 20 lines (in your outlook) then try to synchronize it

Also others please test this and let me know! am the only person with this problem?

Thanks

Hi jnet,

I will do so. I have also brought it to the attention of Ryan who will be testing it too. We'll update you shortly.

Hi jnet,

I have tried to reproduce this, but cannot. I tested it under the following circumstances:
  • Syncing tasks:
    • When created in Outlook and syncing to the server
      • When modified on the server and syncing back
      • When modified in Outlook and syncing back
    • When created on the server and syncing changes to Outlook
      • When modified in Outlook and syncing changes to the server
      • When modified on the server and syncing back
  • The above processes with:
    • Plain text task body
    • Rich text task body
  • Using 3.30.02 (SupportSuite) and SyncWorks 3.2.4.23
  • Installed on Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, all up to date
Ryan, the SyncWorks developer has told me there is no code or reason why SyncWorks would truncate your task note data. My tests confirm this.

Thanks but I have this problem.

Look I have an already created task in my supportsuite.
I go and put some more line in it and update it

then I open my outlook
click on synchronize ( the plugin has default synchronize options all checked)

then when it is over I go back to my support suite and look at my task
the update I had made is gone.

Please try again!

Look right now I made a task in outlook
after typing about 20 lines and saving it I clicked on synchronize
then I went to my supper suite to check it
It is there but it has only 3 lines

I am not sure why. If it is working with yours it should work with mine.
how can I figure it out?

OK please try this way make it first in Outlook click synchronize
Then go to kayako and see if there are all there. use the following text please
and I mix it with some korean words too:

Ok, I am glad to hear it is resolved. There isn't anything in the code that would truncate task content randomly; there must have been something else going on which was fixed by your reinstallation.

I added 11919 words in outlook then clicked on synchronize
went to kayako and found my task but there was only 10676 Word in there.

Does Synchronization uses HTTP?
You might have another issues related to a Proxy/transparent proxy or the likes there.
