Themes -> Explination please?

I'm a bit confused on how the theme system works on here...
I understand it is all edited in the admin cp, but where are the image files to be stored? It referrs to them by $themepath...
After making a new group, is it not supposed to create a new folder and copy the images from the template it was based off of into a new dir? (Thats how most systems are.)
How do I have certain status images appear in one place and different ones appear else where?
For example I want to have a 100x80 image on my home page but I want a 100x50 image on another... I'd need to be able to control which images appear. How do I define which template is to be used? Is there a tutorial/manual on the template system? I looked in the support area and only found breif information on it.

I'm suffering from the same problem. We're running 3.00.32 here.

I've applied some hacks so far, but I need to have an attribute (like ?theme=1 / theme=2 ) that loads custom themes.

I'm in the same boat...

I've created additional template groups thinking that each template group could have it's own look and feel - but that is not happening on my end...

A simple primer would be nice..

You can have a different feel for each of the template groups. All you need to do is edit the templates of each of the groups to get different feel for each of the groups.
