Question Unable to install a java script in Knowledgebase article - 10-05-2007, 09:17 AM

I need to install a javascript in one of the KB articles. But your system (my eSupport is hosted at its latest version) converts the symbols and thus practically disables the script.

Example:

Code:
<script type="text/javascript"><!--
becomes

Code:
<script type="text/javascript">&amp;lt;!--
I really need the javascript to be in place. Is there a way I can enable the script? I won't have a security problem enabling the codes because only staff can create articles. Please help!

I am not sure if this is done on purpose or is a bug. I suggest you submit it at http://bugs.kayako.com and see what the developers respond with.

I do not think you would be able to add a javascript to a KB article. The software is designed to strip the code and convert symbols to HTML codes. Put the code on a HTML page located on your server and try calling it using an iframe code in the KB article. Check if that works.

My eSupport is on your hosted plan so I can no control on server script.

Moreover that particular script is a third-party counter one which my client uses to collect stats from various platforms group into one place.

Can I use iframe in KB article calling javascript from a third party link?

Hi Chow,

If IFRAMEs are not stripped then yes, this will be possible (but I do not remember if they are or are not).

You can use HTML codes in an article. Try using the iframe code and check if it works. Having said that I myself have never used the iframe code so I cannot be absolutely sure.
