Lightbulb Users without email addresses - 02-06-2007, 04:06 PM

Is there anyway to change the login process to include GroupID also? We have several clients that do not have access to email or email addresses. I can have them login with first.last name and a password, but for duplicate names, this won't work. It'd be nice to have a way so that their login screen would have Company or Client also, that checks the GroupID table in the database as well as the current check email (which will just be user name) and password. So Jane.Doe, password from group ABC can login as well as Jane.Doe from group DEF. This is only for the client end. Does anyone have any info or input?

I don't think it is possible to have clients submit tickets without having an email address...

Its hard to believe that anyone with access to the net don't have an email address but I guess there are a few. You can always direct them to create a free email address through hotmail or gmail or yahoo.

I agree under normal terms. But I'm in the healthcare industry. A lot of hospitals and clinics don't allow employee email access or wide-open net access due to the security and HIPAA rules. You can actually allow user names instead of email, as I currently do, but that becomes an issue when you come accross common names; so a different or additional identifier is needed for login. Looking at the code, it doesn't look too difficult; but I'd rather see if anyone else has come accross this issue and a resolution.

I'd contact SoftAir (http://www.softairltda.com) to see if they can modify the software to your particular needs.....
