Email conversation to chatter - 17-11-2007, 04:57 PM

Just completed a chat with a user, and on exit it asked if I wanted to email a copy to them. If I agree, it pops up a box asking for his email. Nowhere in that email box dropdown is his actual email.
Shouldn't this autopopulate with the chatter's email? I'd swear it used to do this.
I thought maybe he hadn't given it, but in looking at the chat history for this session, there it is. Is it just my install exhibiting this?

As a followup thought, perhaps there should be a way to send these after the fact from the web interface? Maybe even being able to push it into a ticket?

Hi bear,

I am not entirely sure myself. I've e-mailed the developers, one of them will get back to you.

I was kind of stumped here as well. Maybe this is planned for "future" releases? If so, probably should have been left out.

Maybe this should be a text field, not a select box, would probably be easier to deal with.

Another thing that would be good is to have the chat mailed to a "super admin" for review. Yeah, I know the admin can access it through history, but many don't look there too often.

I love the idea, just wish it worked

So you just want the e-mail address of the chatter to automatically appear in the e-mail conversation popup window? That can easily be done. I'll talk to Roger.

Ryan
I think (and I may be wrong) What bear is referring to is this:

When you close the chat, you're given the opportunity to mail the chatter with the text of the conversation, and a drop down box of where it should go.

Now, I know for me, that drop down box is empty, so no conversation can be mailed.

Again, I do believe that is what is being referred to here.

Yes, that was it. Also, if it's not askling too much, the possibility to either email again later from the back end (I've been asked for this before), or push into a ticket would be wonderful.

If I'm not mistaken I'm pretty sure we left a way for you to type in that drop-down field even though it's a list. Nevertheless, I will ask Roger to make it auto-populate with the chatter's e-mail address by default.

It is there (it can be typed in), though most don't expect that from a select field. I certainly didn't know about it till you mentioned it.

Thanks, Ryan. Just seems to make sense to have the chatter's email in it by default, since he's the one that would need/want a copy. Appreciate your looking into it for me.
