LiveReponse MOSTLY working under WINE now (Linux) - 18-03-2008, 11:57 PM

Hi guys,

Using the most recent version of WINE (0.9.57, set to claim to be Windows XP and a fresh install), LiveResponse 3.1.1.61 STABLE installs and runs. Everything appears to be working, except the Live Chat. If someone initiates a Live Chat, The "someone wants to chat" prompt appears and can be used to open a chat window.

However, nothing that is typed by the visitor can be seen in the LiveResponse chat window. If I type something back, the visitor can see it (even "rep is typing" stuff works!).

I am glad progress is happening on this (not sure if you guys had anything to do with it), I am just want to know if any specific stuff or DLLs are needed for the Live Chat window part.

Thanks!
- Lawrence

Try http://hotfix.kayako.com/download/lr....61-STABLE.exe

Also, try upgrading to the latest stable version of the core (server php software) (3.20.02) remembering to revert required templates.

lar, I wouldn't be too quick to blame that on WINE; the situation you described is pretty common. I would make sure you're running 3.20.03 on the server and then make sure your templates are all reverted after the upgrade like craig said. If you still have a problem, file a support ticket.

No - the staff user cannot see messages sent by the the end user. Unfortunately, we do not support the application when running under WINE

I just downloaded Wine exactly for the same. I wanted to test and see if the Live chat would work with it. Its seems somebody had the same idea as me. Anyway Wine has a new version now. Have you tried it out. I will in a few minutes.

As for the problem you mention I had the problem for 2 months running on a Windows version. I dont know how but it fixed but itself, so i dont think that is actually a Wine problem or Linux one but the Winapp itself that connects to your installation.

I will update this ones i test it myself

Hi All

I too have this working fine on a Mac using Darwine from Darwine builds for OS X

My only issue is that when I click on Add Notes, it says Loading... but does not go any further :-(

Does anyone else have any ideas please?

Many thanks

JB

Hi guys,

I installed Wine under ubuntu and it's buch better than it used to be.

I installed LiveResponse and that runs, but not the things you guys have running I think.

I can't see the tickets and so on, which are actually HTML based, so I thought I needed IE6.

IE6 is already installed says the latest version of Wine and Gecko is also installed.

Do I need some more ?

Back in the old Wine days you were able to update a full Windows as you liked, this is different, so I would like to know what you guys are running, or just out of the box ?

You do support it? or was that a typo?

I'm having the same issue with the liveresponse chat window. Everything else seems to be fine.

It's a pitty. I'm a Mac user, don't have a Windows machine and won't run parallels to run a single application. I've been trying to get this thing running in CrossOver and/or Darwine. Darwine is a total wash.

What I've found is that CrossOver if I install IE6, SupportSuite complains about no AJAX support. It's the right track. Too bad CrossOver doesn't support IE6 in a WinXP bottle, and too bad SupportSuite won't run in a Win98 bottle.

Oh well, I'll play around a few more minutes (read hours) and see what happens

EDIT: note I'm playing with the trial of Kayako, because I'm not buying until I know it works :/

Hi Ivo,

It isn't a bug; Linux and Wine aren't supported and do not meet the system requirements for the desktop application. The problem is most likely due to the Internet Explorer implementation used in Wine (either being too old, or just broken).
