Liveresponse not starting? - 16-07-2007, 02:45 PM

I'm having a strange bug when trying to start the winapp from the computer of my colleague.

When you start the program (click on the shortcut, or starting the .exe)... nothing happends No process get started (i don't see anything in the task manager), no windows waiting for an action... nothing...

OS: windows XP, sp2, full updated, rebooted, c++ redist installed... and all i could think of

It works perfectly on my laptop (vista).
I also tried on an other computer in the company and there was NO problems too...
Why only this one...

Anyone experienced the same bug?

I have not experienced this and I run XP SP2. Have you tried completely uninstalling and then re-installing?

Are you running the latest version? (http://hotfix.kayako.com/winapp/Kaya...-3.1.1.33.exe). I know some older versions got compiled wrong and do this.

Tried uninstalling, deleting Kayako stuff in the user's application data, inside the program files and in the registry then reinstalling?

It would be helpful if you could go to your Administration Tools -> Event viewer, and copy/paste any relevant errors from that program here.

What other programs are installed on that computer that aren't installed on your laptop or the other computer at the company?

Did this only start happening with the latest build, or has it always done this?

Too much, that's not my computer. It's the one of a devellopper, so he has visual 6.0 and many other dev tools. But an other computer have a similar configuration and liveresponse is runing well.
As i said in my post on the other thread i think that it might comes from a problem with the visual c++ 2005 redists being in conflict with visual studio (6.0) (but it works on the other computer o_O).

I'll copy paste tomorrow the events via process monitor (it's 22:44 atm :P).
But his system is getting a bit too old (that's why i didn't opened a bug ticket, i just wanted to know if this was a known problem), i guess that the best way to solve this is to format the computer.

Thanks anyway

If you still can, it would be very helpful to have the process monitor information. Formatting the computer might solve your problem, but the bug will very likely persist in our software until we can determine the cause.

Our next stable release isn't going to be made until we can squash this bug. Any information you can provide would be extremely helpful.

Now that is commitment!

Maybe some kind of temp remote access would allow debugging.

Bad events on bad events, i'm sick today
I asked via msn the events log (to a colleague), but i won't be able to do more
Here comes the logs (see attachments)

Process monitor 1.2 required
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...ssmonitor.mspx

It seems like the process is ending (after 0.5s) after looking for the dwmapi.dll, but we couldn't find this dll on an other computer where liveresponse is working well.

Edit: that would be the best craig, but because of security policy we can't do so

Do the older versions work on this machine in particular (ie previous one and previous one to that)?
