LiveResponse will no longer work under W2k OS stations - 17-08-2007, 05:01 PM

I just wanted to pass this info along in case others are planning on upgrading to the latest 3.11 and have W2k stations.

The latest bugfix report from Kayako states that an API change to GETNAMEINFO was done to fix a NETBIOS issue. Unfortunately, this API is only present in XP/Vista OS... not W2k. This produces and entry point error.

So, either upgrade your stations to XP or higher, avoid upgrading, or request that Kayako wraps some code around this API to check if you are on W2k.

Since I only had one W2k machine left in our office, I am going to go the easier route of just upgrading my pc. Maybe someone else will post this as a bug to Kayako.

Later,
Doug

Which service pack do you have installed on your 2000 machines?

Our official policy is that we do not support our applications running on operating systems before Windows XP.

Microsoft themselves no longer support Windows 2000, and since there are several security- and functionality- related issues with trying to maintain compatibility, there is not enough motivation to put forth the effort to support an 8-year-old operating system.

Here is a link describing the lifecycle information for Windows 2000:
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecyc...5&y=15&p1=3071

Unless overwhelming demand is shown for support of our applications on Windows 2000, it is unlikely that they will function properly and we cannot troubleshoot any problems that may occur.

I understand on the not supporting Win2k so I was able to go back to the downloads section and download version 3.1.0.11 and it worked on my Win2k machine.
