Exclamation A required resource was . (OK) - 14-03-2007, 10:52 PM

Is anyone else getting this?

We're plagued again with this error on all four systems using the current Winapp. I've personally had it possibly a dozen times today. The error pops up repeatedly, and I can't get anything on my systems to work till I close the chat with the close program menu (which itself is difficult to bring up during this error due to the recurring popups that take over the screen).

When I can reboot and reopen the chats, I am fine again for a few more minutes -- till this error comes up again. There are four of us who see this error on a regular basis -- far more regular since our last update - a dozen times per day or more now. All are using XP but different versions.

Please let me know if we can provide more information to sovle this once and for all Thanks!

We also are experiencing this error every once in a while. I myself have it at least once or twice a day, while our other staff, which not as lucky as me, would get this error about 4 or more times a day.

What I usually do is just kill the winapp process from my process list, and restart the application again. That usually fix it for me.

I am using Windows 2000 Workstation, while my co-workers uses various WinXP home/pro. One of them is running it through paralel on MacOSX. Everyone experiences this problem to certain degree.

I wish there's a fix to this because this disrupt our chat quite a bit, and it looks bad on us when this happens on sales chat.

Please state the complete error message you are receiving as can't diagnose a problem and help you fix it unless we get enough information to know what the problem is... As I am running the Winapp on all our systems and have had no problems.

XeSolutions,

There's not much of error message. Just as handsonweb has put for the title of the thread. There's a pop up window saying "A required resource was ." with the (OK) button. In my case, it keeps beeping with that window until I kill WinApp off my process list.

Edit: Forgot to mention, after that window pops up, I won't be able to interact with WinApp until it is killed. So usually I have to restart WinApp again.

Can you guys disable the spell checker and see if this problem persists?

If either of you would like to further assist us with debugging, PM me your email addresses and/or IM usernames. We'd like to get this bug fixed as soon as possible, but I can't reproduce it on my system. Thanks!

Hi Roger,

Thank you for helping. I will request our Live Chat staff to turn off the spell checking and see if that issue persists. If it does, we will try to get a screenshot so you know what we are seeing.

Does this happen to you right away or only after a while of using the application?

Does it happen after you've used the application for a long time and then handling one chat, or after you've handled a lot of them?

Hi Roger,

It usually happens after a while using the application, sometimes a long time, sometimes less than an hour. As far as I know, it always happens when we are handling chat. When it happens, we usually ask another staff to pick up the chat and continue helping our customer, while the staff who has the problem restarts his/her WinApp.

Please install the latest build here:

It should fix this problem.

Roger,

I had my techs upgrade to 3.1.1.21 as soon as I saw it in the hotfix directory. We're still seeing this exact issue.

Occurs more close to the end of a work day, locks the process up until restarted and occasionally crashes the entire machine.

Roger,

My partner provided me with this image of the crash.

He is running 3.1.1.18 Stable - but I have verified my two techs who crashed in the same way today are running 3.1.1.21

Sorry I didn't update sooner.. - 22-03-2007, 10:52 PM

Our windows look the same as the one posted. Occasionally I'll get one of those error reports going out to Microsoft, so next time I see one I'll post the technical data from that too.

Spell checker being off didn't seem to make a difference.

Mine crashes several times per day... lately, as often as three or four times in a single chat. It never, ever happens when I don't have any chats.

My bad. - 22-03-2007, 11:45 PM

I have a tech who was able to stop this error by disabling spell checker and turning off the department and referrer tabs. I'm trying that now on mine - will update if I have more trouble.

I'm also getting this, it seems to happen 18 minutes within a chat. Very annoying, I have to do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and kill it in Task Manager to get rid.

Disable the spell checker for now. There was a GDI leak, but that has been fixed in 3.1.1.21. I can't see what else it could be.

"Occasionally crashes the whole machine?" What exactly happens? It's hard to believe LR could bring down XP or Vista.
