2 desks? - 23-12-2006, 01:54 PM

Can one paid Instaalert be used by one user to poll two separate desks for tickets? I have two installs on separate servers I need to monitor, and would like to be able to either poll them both from one instance, or be able to run a second instance for the second desk.
Is it possible?
Is it within the license?

What about installing on a laptop for when I'm away from the office? Can I install the same Instaalert on the laptop and still be "legal"?

I do know that I had to purchase one copy for my desktop and one for my laptop

I am pretty sure that it will not check multiple helpdesks on different servers but that would be a great mod

Thanks, that's kind of what I'd guessed, but buying 4 of these is a bit much. If it could poll two, I wouldn't mind buying a second for the laptop, but if it's one per desk and one per machine, that won't do.

The only real difference then is that you can see the queue on one desk with the paid version?

Instaalert should be free for owners of Support Suite as it is... charging extra for it is poor form by Kayako considering the amount of bugs in both programs.

i did just try it, you can run multiple instances of the program on the same computer and log into a different help desk...

You do not have to have a copy for each helpdesk just computer

@leyton1: There is a free version already. It's only if you want the extra functions that you need pay. Let's keep on topic, ok?

Thanks Shane. I'm currently doing that with the free one, but wasn't sure the paid would allow it. Can you answer me about the additional functions? Is it just the ticket queue view that's added in paid?

I did not know about the free one

but in the one i have, I have all cues and status folders and click to instantly access that area

And then of course a new ticket notification that you click to go directly to it

Which bugs in particular are you referring to? I show any open bugs in the bug tracker for InstaAlert at this moment in time.

We charge for InstaAlert on a per-seat basis. Meaning, you'll need to purchase InstaAlert licenses for each computer you wish to use it on.

Thanks!
