https issue - 31-08-2006, 03:53 PM

Our eSupport is install on a ssl enable https connection.

In InstalAlert, the url to kayako is defined as https://support.domain....

When a new ticket is received, the popup alert shows with a clickable link. On clicking the link it opens up IE with an incorrect url

http://%1%20https://support.domain.c...t&ticketid=121

Please advise how to correct this url formation to

https://support.domain.com/helpdesk/...t&ticketid=121

Andy,

Strange issue you've stumbled upon. Would you mind e-mailing me temporary staff login credentials for your server so that I can test this for myself?

Regards,

Andy,

Check your instaalert settings and also make sure you do not have a stray spae or something before the https:// in your url..

Seems instaalert would not be able to even login if that was the case, but it may be worth a shot to double check it.

I was unable to reproduce this particular problem on your server. The popup link was correctly prefixed with "https://" and opened the correct page.

However, while attempting to create new tickets in the system, I received an error about an invalid ticket specified. I don't know what is wrong with the system but you should submit a ticket on our support site to have someone take a look at it.

Are you still experiencing the problem with the popup links in InstaAlert?

Ryan,

I am still getting the incorrect popup links. Our default browser is Avant (a Skin of IE).

I too am getting the http://%1%20https://....

invalid syntax error issue. I recently began using Firefox exclusively instead of IE, so I wonder if between switching between the two, and making Firefox the default, if a registry setting broke? Haven't found anything wrong with the Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types entries for URL, http, https, etc... Any updates yet Ryan?

I was able to "repair" the http:// and https:// protocol settings by opening internet explorer, and telling it to check if its the default browser... (Tools -> Internet Options, Programs Tab, check "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser." Then OK out of that, and close and restart IE. When asked if you want to make it the default browser, say Yes. If you use IE, this should fix it.

If you use firefox, opera, or any other, then open that browser, find the setting to have it "check to see if its the default browser", close the browser, restart the browser, and select the option to make it default... Worked for me in Firefox 1.5.x.

Yes, setting intenet explorer as default browser and makeing sure it remains default browser cures the issue.

Is it that InstaAlert is compatible only with IE (original) ?
