is there a way to get insta alert to pop up for events as well as tickets? that would be really useful

No, this is not possible at the moment but certainly would be a useful feature.

i have created this feature.

i'm not sure if im allowed to post the code though.

what i have done is modified the instaalert xml response to include alerts for tasks & calendar events due that day. just like what would be shown on the dashboard.
