Lightbulb InstaAlert Activation Problem - 18-01-2006, 12:55 PM

When I try activate the program it asks for serial from the website
there is no serial inside members section or I don't see it.. there is key.php but no serial inside only encoded data...

anyone help me step by step to corectly activate the InstaAlert app.?

Hi,

The serial number is only needed if you wish to use the Pro version (enable ticket tree), you need to purchase a licence for the Pro version.

In the activation screen for InstaAlert it will display a Device ID. You copy this to the members section to generate the serial number which you then copy back to the application. This of course means the serial number can only ever be used on the same machine.

Hmmm my Device ID field in InstaAlert is emty and it says that I need to copy serial from the website to generate Sevice ID... Im lost in space...


KAYAKO Support .. can you help..?

Hi arcadius1974,
When you start the application, there is - "Click here to register" , on click, you will get the device ID displayed which you will have to copy and using the Device ID, you can get the serial key from the members area at https://members.kayako.net

When transfering to another person? Then what? - 07-02-2006, 05:45 PM

My concerns are along the same lines such as switching laptops, but also what if I I let one of my technical support persons go, which I have done, and they have been using this software. How do I "transfer" this software to another person. Then what?

I would be more than happy to buy pro for all my staff, but without a solution for this, well I find it difficult. It's to bad it's not a "per-user" instead of "per device" setup.

Hello WhoDo,

This is one of the MAIN reasons I have been suggesting to Kayako for a while that the windows apps should all get serial numbers when purchased. You should then go into the admin area of Kayako and enter the serial numbers. This way you could easily move licenses between staff ect. Unfortunatly nobody has done anything about it. A word from Varun would be handy at this point as he did say it would be implemented when I spoke with him.

ok.. so it's not possible? i've just bought a couple of licences and activated insta alert. One machine is now dead and we have set up a new one. I need to move the serial/licence to the other machine... there has to be a way. Varun? anything? can i reset the licence in the members area?

Before you can do this you need a device ID. If one isn't shown, uninstall InstaAlert and reinstall the latest version.

Once you have a device ID, if you have already licensed a particular purchase of IA Pro, submit a support ticket to Kayako (http://support.kayako.com) telling them which license you would like to change and they will give you a new serial which should work.
