Instalert Licence - 23-03-2006, 03:58 PM

Hi,

Am i missing something with regards to instalert? is the product part of the supportsuite licence package or is it separate? I was under the assumption that the client that came with the suportsuite would be part of the bundle?

When i try to register is directs me to the members area of the site but i can't see how to register it from there.

regards

JM

Hello,

InstaAlert comes free with SupportSuite / eSupport. If you want, you can choose to extend the functionality of the product by purchasing an InstaAlert Pro Licence. If you do this you are able to view things like how many tickets are in each of your assigned departments.

Best Regards,

So...how does one 'register" the default, vanilla version? As the OP said, I was directed to the members area...and then left there to figure out what to do.

the basic free version you dont register... So you don't click on the register link... Thats for the Pro Version which is $19.95

Interesting...when I installed it showed as "not connected", until I did click that link, and suddenly it was "on line".
So this license for the free one is for one computer/user, and not allowed if I'm travelling with my laptop then, eh? If that's right, I'd like to suggest that the "free" one is allowed by one user on up to two computers, but the paid is restricted to one, period. Seems more fair to me.

The free version will run on any number of computers, because you never feed it a registration key.

InstaAlert is bound to the hardware for which the serial number is generated, but if you wished to move the copy to your other computer, we can arrange a re-issue of the serial number.

Ah, silly me for not testing. I'm fine with that then.
One further question though...if I were to buy the paid version, and install on the desktop; could I then install on my laptop if I were to remove it from the desktop first, or is it locked to the hardware at first install?

My computer ****ped out and I had to reload it -- we own 5 licenses of InstaAlert. I reloaded my system and my Device ID does not appear on the members.kayako.net section.

My ID is now: 4FFA3126-0437C841-F031065F-F09C5B40
My Prior Device ID was: 144C9AA5-E4E543C0-9EEB086F-8C3A7D03

@jtaugher,

Please open a support ticket at http://support.kayako.net and someone will provide you with a new serial number.

@bear,

The installation is locked to the hardware for which you generate the Serial Number for, but it can be arranged to "move" the software to a different computer through our support desk.

If I use more than one support suite would I need to enter the registration code all the time I switch over to another account? Or it is limited to only unit computer?

@kushaaal,

InstaAlert is only bound to the hardware for which the serial number is generated. It doesn't matter which servers you choose to connect to with it.

Regards
