Doesn't work with Chinese characters - 22-07-2006, 09:45 AM

I downgraded my SyncWorks and now it's updating. However for subjects that have Asian characters, the entire event becomes invisible. Only by mouse-overing the item and clicking on it will you see that there's actually an event there.

What is the fix to this?

Skeptical,

The new update to SyncWorks, which will be released early next week hopefully, contains full internationalization support, including Chinese.

The version you are currently using is only designed for ANSI/MBCS character sets.

I will let you know when the new build is officially available for download.

Regards,

The new build of SyncWorks with full internationalization support (3.00.95) is now available as a CVS build from the Members Area (https://members.kayako.net).

You will need to update both your server software and the SyncWorks add-on from the package.

What about the LiveSupport ticket system? Right now, when someone writes an email in Chinese, it displays in the system as a bunch of gibberish. The only way to fix this is to change the encoding of the page to Chinese.

The same goes for outgoing mail. Often clients complain that when mail is sent out in Chinese, it ends up as gibberish on their systems.

The entire server software package is also capable of full internationalization. You will need to set it up to use the proper codepage for Chinese.

I have this version:
supportsuite[1].3.00.90.stable.zendopen.tar.gz

Kayako has been upgraded since then to support internationalization?

Skeptical,

Yes, internationalization has been added to the code in the CVS branch for some time. However, we do not have this code prepared as a stable build as of yet. If you wish to take advantage of the full internationalization capabilities of the software, you will need to run a CVS build for now. You can download it from the Members Area under Builds.

We use CVS. You can download a development snapshot build that is auto-generated at midnight each night by logging in to the Members Area, and choosing the Builds tab.

At the top of the list of builds will be the most recent. Just look for the package name with "CVS" in it, and install that on your server.

Please let me know if you encounter any problems.
