Hi, You are free to use the /pda and /wap interfaces. KayakoMobile is based off the APIs of Pocket PC and the current codebase cannot be ported. If we have to support BlackBerry we will have to create a new port based on Java from scratch. Regards, Varun Shoor -------------------------------------------------------------------

/pda doesn't work that great, also more business class people use more blackberry then windows mobile. Are you telling me kayako is to lazy to recode for blackberry? I'm sure, I cant be the only one here with a blackberry. Kayako shouldn't focus just in one area for mobile, so many options to have. I understand you can't do it all. But at lease cover blackberry too. ServerTweak.comServerTweak.com: Premium Services, Powered by Customers. No, Windows Mobile is more popular than Blackberries. Blackberries are a neiche market. Icon Headquarters - Its Elixir - Web2Messenger |

Yea, it is second for this type of device. WM5 was buggy, WM6 is much better. Icon Headquarters - Its Elixir - Web2Messenger |

I suppose if they did it in Java it would be easy to have it working on all smart phones. Icon Headquarters - Its Elixir - Web2Messenger |

I would prefer they kept it C++ for Windows / Windows Mobile and Java for everything else as I still think Java is slow... Icon Headquarters - Its Elixir - Web2Messenger |

Take a look at Zend Studio. It is built in Java and is as slow as hell compared to the likes of Dreamweaver built in C++. Icon Headquarters - Its Elixir - Web2Messenger |

Java is great for mobile devices, but not that great on the desktops. I personally don't think Zend or Eclipse is that slow - it doesn't inconvenience me; the only extra wait is on boot-up. Like with all Java applications, the longer you run them the faster they get. I personally think that the solution for cross-platforms is to do something that uses the web as a platform - it has an audience wider than any other, and with web tools and browsers that support those tools becoming increasingly sophisticated there is all the more reason to opt for this. There are no plans for a Java or web-based mobile client right now, so the discussion remains open. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh I totally agree. Java is good for mobile devices but on Windows I have found it to be problematic. I have seen Zend Studio do weird things in it and one of my programmers frequently mentions it refusing to start up and crashing during working. Icon Headquarters - Its Elixir - Web2Messenger |

And now that the cellular companies (Sprint, Verizon, & AT&T) have been running specials for the 8100 and 8800 series making them generally less expensive than the Windows Mobile devices, they are selling them left and right in the consumer market as well. I deal with a large number of users who also just find the blackberry's easier to navigate and use than the windows mobile devices. Just as an example; surveying my business clients in the midwest United States, their employees have about 180 blackberry's currently in service vs. about 40 windows mobile devices in service that I support. Also as a side note, Java runs on both blackberry and windows mobile platforms. So looking to develop for the future, it would seem that Java should be a more popular consideration... My two and a half cents worth anyway...
