Flash Tutorials - 22-04-2007, 01:38 PM

Dear Everyone,

I am quite good at making flash tutorials as I have been making them since the days when what is now Adobe Captivate was Macromedia Robodemo. Anyway, I made a sample yesterday and showed it to Jamie Edwards (Comms Manager) so I decided to finish that tutorial off and post it so here we go.

Hi Craig,

very nice job, this will surely help newcomers a lot. Something Kayako should have done ages ago

Maybe you can also create a "basic setup" tutorial for esupport and livesupport.
- adding language
- changing logo
- creating staff
- notifications staff
- creating departments
- walkthrough the settings
- mailparser
- adding knowledgebase article
- adding troubleshooter article
- adding downloads article
- adding news article

These are (in my opion) the next logical steps.

Again ... great work !

Regards,

MarcelC

Update: Added "Setting up a LoginShare".

Thanks for the comments MarcelC! Will try my best to get all of your suggested tutorials done over the next week or so.

This is good stuff! Thanks for sharing.

As for the back up tutorial, at the end you should add a notice suggesting the back up feature will not work for larger databases. In that case one should take a back up using phpMyAdmin or from MySQL CLI.

Actually, phpMyAdmin has about the same limitations as the built in backup, meaning for large backups, you really should use only command line. If that's not available, you can do separate backups for various tables from phpMyAdmin.

How about "How to setup up escalations"? I can't seem to get mine to work so some step by step instructions would be nice.

Sorry for the delay in more updates guys but I have been busy over the past week. Anyway, the following updates have been made :-
- Changed it to only say the user should use Command Line Interface if they have a large database as per Bear's comment.
- Added the "Creating a Department" tutorial.
- Added the "Creating a Team" tutorial.

I will try and get the rest of the suggested ones done as soon as possible.

Kayako should host those for you to not chew up your bandwidth... anyway to get them for internal use at our business - or do you not care about bandwidth and not plan on removing them from the server...?

I am not bothered really as that site will soon be moved to a high powered server with 2000GB of bandwidth per month. Hardly any resources will be used for my purposes in the early stages so don't mind doing this for Kayako.

Could you please link to this forum topic though rather than directly do them? Reason being is that if it becomes a problem, I can ask Kayako to host them and you won't have to update all your links.
