How can I use the live response system without displaying the online or offline image - 02-05-2007, 04:39 AM

How can I use the live response system without displaying the online or offline image on my site, so that I can initiate a chat but clients cannot unless prompted by myself or staff? This would be very beneficial to me as many of my staff work odd hours and would still like to be able to talk to a customer one on one before they make a purchasing decision and to help them answer any questions before they order a product. Is this possible if not what can I do?

Hello,

The way to do this is to not put any live support images on your site and do the following to disable it on the client support area :-
1. Go into the admin area.
2. Click "Settings" on the left menu.
3. Go into "Live Support".
4. Set "Display Live Support Status Icon below Navigation Bar" (at the bottom) to "No".
5. Click "Update Settings".

You would then just use the Windows Live Support Application to request chats with them by right clicking on them when it shows them online.

How would I be able to get live support like this for the other pages outside of the support area?

You need to go into the staff area, click "Live Support", click "Tag Generator" and copy that code to the pages you want to be able to track the user on.
