Currently, the eSupport does not support spam filters like Akismet; as a result, the support e-mail tend to receive a lot of spam. I am considering using an intermediate GMail account for the sole purpose of spam filtering; e-mails being forwarded to foo@gmail.com before being forwarded to the Kayako mailbox. What do you think of this approach? Are there people here encountering the same issue with spam? What approach are you using to tackle spam? Thanks in advance, Joannes Lokad Sales Forecasting |

Personally I think FuseMail (http://www.fusemail.com) is better at doing the job of spam filtering. It has uptime guarantees too where as GMail doesn't.

I know a lot of people take the GMail approach successfully - I would recommend that if picking an intermediary service for use in this way, you pick GMail. Others choose to run their own spam filter, such as Spam Assassin and use POP3 boxes from which SupportSuite polls for mail. Spam Assassin can be configured to tag spam messages, and you can use mail parser rules in SupportSuite to stop autoresponders, move department, reject the ticket and so on. -------------------------------------------------------------------

FuseMail use their own spam attack platform. I have used them for about 2 years and must admit they are much better than GMail. There are many people that would agree too. The GMail guys who deal with spam have gotten sloppy lately as they have been falsely identifying a lot of emails lately which I don't often see happen with FuseMail.

Would it not be easier just to pull the mail directly from GMail via POP rather than redirecting it a third time?
