How?: Piping with seperate mail server - 22-10-2007, 06:59 AM

Howdy guys, Just like to say how happy I am to finally be a proud Kayako SupportSuite customer (even though it's my Bosses license).

Most of today we (Our server technician and myself) have been setting up SupportSuite and we've hit a slight snag. We where planning on using the piping method as I don't know anything about servers, but we have a server technician ... so, that issue is kinda under control.

However, a few minutes ago David our tech asked me if I knew where some docs where that explained how to enable Piping when we have several servers setup (Just one housing SupportSuite, but a seperate one that does all our Mail).

If anyone knows how to do this? We're running FreeBSD on all our boxes with varying versions of PHP and MySQL. If anyone has any info that would assist, it's much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi CallanM,

The manuals can be found here: http://docs.kayako.net/

However, I they do not cover piping across different servers - that would be beyond what I know. The only requirement for this is that you can directly access your installation directory from your other servers - then you should be able to pipe e-mail to the script as you would locally.

Possibly mounting network folders?

Yeah he's already been using the documentation provided as he doesn't have any past experience with SupportSuite. Hopefully I can give him that info and he can make sense of it, heh.

We have a number of experienced Unix technicians. If you're support and upgrades period is current, you are welcome to submit a support ticket asking if it is possible / recommended ways of doing it. However, there won't be any guarantee we would be able to set this up for you or that you will be able to get it working.

You need to set email piping on the server on which you have installed SupportSuite. Once done, you will have to forward emails from various other servers to the email address you have piped into SupportSuite. That should do the trick!

Heyy, that sounds just crazy enough to work. I'll forward that to our tech asap, and if that fails we'll try for support.

It may sound complicated but truly it is not. It indeed is quite simple.
