Jump straight to live chat. - 22-08-2007, 12:06 PM

Hey guys,

I have been quite for a weeks now as i have been integrating the kayako support system into our own intranet and i am absolutely amazed at how easy this has been and am very impressed with the functionality.

There is one final problem i am having before we can hit the go live button and i take a well earned holiday.

Our IT manager does not want users to have to select a department, enter the name or contact details when they click on the live support button. I have kinda find a way to prevent this using the following code.

Code:

<script language="javascript" src="https://intranet.MyURL.com/support/visitor/index.php?_m=livesupport&_a=htmlcode&departmentid=0&fullname=joe.bloggs%40betfred.com&email=joe.bloggs%40betfred.com"></script>
This seems to prevent hte fullname field and email field from showing up, but i still cant seem to just get rid of the initial screen and get it to jump straight into chat.

We already know the users kayako name as we have integrated the system into our intranet.

Anyone help me here???? Like i said above as soon as we have got this done, were on a winner and my holiday is waiting

Regards
Scott Blood

You can simply customize the initial screen and put the Name, Email and Department fields are hidden.

A "Continue" button center screen could be an option.

I wouldn't advise having people go right to the chat anyway as there will be some users who click the live help button just to look.

Hey thanks for the reply.

Unfortunatly setting these invisible causes a javascript error because the system attempts to focus a control that is either hidden, disable or does not have the facility to accept the focus.

I am not really a javascript developer, but i know where the issues is here so i will attempt to modify the source for this.

Dont you just hate it when your boss has one idea and you have another and your idea is always the one that gets implemented after you implemented the one your boss wants.

Yea. Non-IT people NEED to listen to the IT people rather than wanting to do things how they think would be best!

But the problem there is that not IT people always get confused then, one cracking example of this is in our call centre, we had someone who walked out last year because they were told if they need any help in future to press F1 and they sat there for over 3 hours wiating for someone from IT to come and walked out because they never.
