| Merge tickets - newest or oldest -

Hi there,
When we select two tickets from the staff ticket view, then click MERGE it uses the newest one as the "primary" ticket and moves all of the oldest ticket information to this one.
Is there a way to have it merge the NEWEST ticket into the OLDEST one? We need this to maintain timelines and ensure SLAs are not affected.
I know the best way is to go into the newest ticket, use the option to enter the oldest reference and click UPDATE - but my engieers are a) lazy/busy, and b) sometimes have several to merge at once.
