Migrating from Linux machine to Windows Server machine - 21-05-2008, 09:03 PM

Sorry if this is a repost, but I couldn't find anything when searching the boards for an answer. We're looking to move our SupportSuite service from a linux greybox to a Windows Server machine. What exactly would be entailed in the move itself? Thanks in advance.

1. Close the Help Desk. This should be done to avoid duplicate tickets.
2. Backup all the files and copy these to the new server.
3. Backup the database and import in the new server using a tool like phpMyAdmin at both ends.
4. Adjust the database details in /config/config.php on the new server.
5. Change the DNS for the domain to point to the new server.
6. Reopen the help desk.

Thanks for the help. Couple questions though...

4. What would need to be changed on the config.php file?
5. I'm assuming you mean to change the DNS on our domain registrar, right? Not with Kayako?

Sorry for the newbie questions. I inherited this network, so I'm still learning as I go. Much appreciated.

4. The database details need to be changed to the new details.
5. Yes, change it with domain registrar so it points to the new server.

Thanks for the help. I'm assuming by database details you mean the SQL username and password, correct? Or is there something else I'm missing?

Host, username, password and database name may need to be changed based on your new server.
